Be Honest: What’s Choking Your Growth?
What if the thing holding you back isn’t a lack of knowledge?
What if you already know what you need to do?
You know the conversation you need to have.
The decision you need to make.
The habit you need to change.
The risk you need to take.
The thing you need to let go of.
And yet…
You keep circling it.
You research.
You plan.
You think.
You wait for clarity.
You tell yourself you need more time.
But deep down, you already know.
Be honest with yourself.
What’s choking your growth?
Maybe it’s fear of being judged.
Maybe it’s needing everyone to understand your decision.
Maybe it’s staying in a relationship, job, environment or identity that you have already outgrown.
Maybe you’re addicted to certainty.
Maybe you keep asking for advice because you don’t want to trust yourself.
Maybe you’re protecting yourself from failure so carefully that you’re also protecting yourself from the life you actually want.
Growth often doesn’t require another book.
Another course.
Another strategy.
Another 10-step plan.
Sometimes growth requires the courage to stop doing the thing that you already know isn’t working.
To tell yourself the truth.
Not the comfortable truth.
The real truth.
Because there is enormous freedom on the other side of an honest conversation with yourself.
Ask yourself:
What am I pretending not to know?
What am I avoiding?
What would I do if I stopped trying to keep everyone happy?
What decision have I been postponing?
What would become possible if I finally let this go?
And perhaps the most powerful question of all:
What is this costing me?
Because the cost of staying where you are isn’t always obvious.
It might be your energy.
Your confidence.
Your relationships.
Your creativity.
Your health.
Your time.
Your sense of possibility.
Eventually, the question changes from:
“How do I grow?”
to:
“What am I doing that is stopping me from growing?”
That is a very different conversation.
And sometimes, the breakthrough isn’t about adding something new.
It’s about removing what has been choking the life out of you.
Be honest.
Look closely.
You might already know exactly what needs to change.
