I Am a Free Man

For years, I thought freedom was something I would find someday.

When I had enough money.
When I had achieved enough.
When the circumstances of my life finally lined up.

I was looking for freedom outside of me.

Now I realise something different.

Freedom is not a destination.
It is a way of being.

Today, I feel like a free man.

Not because everything in my life is perfect.

Because I am no longer imprisoned by the things that used to control me.

My body is strong.

Not just in the way it looks, but in what it allows me to experience. Years of movement, discipline, injury, recovery, and training have created a body that carries me through life with energy and confidence.

My mind is no longer my master.

The thoughts still come.
The doubts still appear.
The old stories still knock on the door.

But I don’t have to invite them in.

I can watch them without becoming them.

There is an incredible freedom in realising that you are not your thoughts.

My emotions no longer run my life.

They are welcome.
I listen to them.
I learn from them.

But they no longer dictate who I become.

Insight has replaced reaction.

Awareness has replaced unconscious patterns.

That feels like freedom.

And perhaps the greatest freedom of all…

I have dreams again.

Not dreams driven by proving my worth.

Not dreams fuelled by comparison.

Dreams that feel deeply aligned with who I am.

To coach.

To sail.

To have extraordinary conversations.

To build a life that reflects my deepest values rather than society’s expectations.

Freedom isn’t having no responsibilities.

Freedom is living in alignment with yourself.

When your body supports you.
When your mind serves you.
When your emotions inform you instead of controlling you.
When your dreams pull you forward instead of your fears holding you back.

That is freedom.

And once you’ve tasted it, you realise something beautiful.

Freedom was never something you had to earn.

It was always waiting beneath the noise.
