Nothing Is Impossible If You Really Think About It

Most things we call impossible are not actually impossible.

They are simply unfamiliar.

They are things we haven’t figured out yet.

At some point, flying was impossible.

Crossing oceans was impossible.

Speaking to someone on the other side of the world instantly was impossible.

Walking again after an injury can feel impossible.

Starting a new business at 43 can feel impossible.

Leaving behind a life that no longer fits can feel impossible.

Building the life you’ve secretly imagined for years can feel impossible.

But “impossible” often means:

I don’t currently see the path.

That’s very different from there being no path.

We often confuse the limits of our current thinking with the limits of reality.

If you’ve only ever known one way of living, another way can seem ridiculous.

If you’ve never earned that amount of money, it can seem unrealistic.

If you’ve never had the relationship you want, it can seem like something that only happens to other people.

If you’ve spent years playing small, taking a huge leap can feel irresponsible.

But your imagination is often trying to show you something before your circumstances have caught up.

The question isn’t:

“Is this possible?”

The better question is:

“What would have to be true for this to become possible?”

Then start there.

One conversation.

One decision.

One uncomfortable action.

One new skill.

One introduction.

One failed attempt.

One more try.

You don’t need to know the entire route.

You just need to stop demanding certainty before taking the first step.

Because sometimes the biggest obstacle isn’t the mountain in front of you.

It’s the belief that the mountain cannot be climbed.

Think bigger.

Question the assumptions.

Allow yourself to imagine a life that currently feels unreasonable.

Then work backwards.

What would need to happen?

Who would you need to become?

What would you need to learn?

Who would you need to ask?

What would you need to let go of?

And then begin.

Maybe it won’t happen exactly as you imagined.

Maybe it will take longer.

Maybe the path will be completely different.

But you’ll never discover what’s possible by constantly negotiating with the limits of what you already know.

Nothing is impossible when you’re willing to think beyond your current reality—and then do the work to make the idea real.
