What Is My Purpose Asking Me to Do Right Now?

We tend to think of purpose as something big.

A destination.
A title.
A life we arrive at one day.

But what if purpose isn’t something out there in the future?

What if purpose is something that’s speaking to you… right now?

Not in some grand, overwhelming way — but in the smallest, most honest next step.

Purpose Is Not a Plan

Most people get stuck trying to figure out their purpose.

They sit in their head asking:

  • “What should I do with my life?”

  • “What’s my mission?”

  • “What’s the big thing I’m meant for?”

But the truth is — your head isn’t where purpose lives.

Your head can analyse.
It can compare.
It can create endless options.

But it can’t feel what is true.

Purpose doesn’t come from thinking harder.

It comes from listening deeper.

Purpose Lives in the Body

Your body is constantly giving you signals.

A pull.
A curiosity.
A discomfort.
A quiet knowing.

But most of us ignore it.

We override it with logic.
We distract ourselves.
We numb out.

And then we say:
“I don’t know my purpose.”

But it’s not that you don’t know.

It’s that you’re not listening.

The Question That Changes Everything

Instead of asking:

“What is my purpose?”

Ask:

“What is my purpose asking me to do right now?”

This brings it out of the abstract…
and into the present moment.

Because purpose doesn’t reveal itself all at once.

It reveals itself step by step.

It’s Usually Uncomfortable

Here’s the part people don’t like:

Purpose often asks you to do the thing you’re avoiding.

  • Have the conversation you don’t want to have

  • Feel the emotion you’ve been suppressing

  • Take the step you’re scared of

  • Tell the truth you’ve been hiding

Purpose is not always exciting.

Sometimes it’s deeply uncomfortable.

Because purpose isn’t here to keep you safe.

It’s here to make you real.

The Next Step Is Enough

You don’t need a 10-year plan.

You don’t need certainty.

You don’t need to know where it all leads.

You only need to be honest enough to see:

What is life asking of me right now?

Maybe it’s:

  • Rest

  • Speak

  • Leave

  • Stay

  • Create

  • Stop

It’s usually simple.

But not easy.

When You Follow It

When you start listening and acting on that next step, something shifts.

Life begins to feel more aligned.
More alive.
More true.

Not because everything becomes perfect…

But because you’re no longer abandoning yourself.

You’re in relationship with your life.

Bringing It Back to You

Right now, as you read this…

Pause for a moment.

Drop out of your head.
Feel into your body.

And ask yourself:

What is my purpose asking me to do right now?

Don’t overthink it.

You already know.

If you want, I can tailor this more toward your retreat brand (“Sea Beyond”) or bring in stronger ocean/sailing metaphors to match your identity.
