43: The Best I’ve Ever Felt

Today I turned 43.

I feel incredible.

Physically.
Mentally.
Emotionally.

Not because my life is perfect.

Not because I’ve achieved everything I want.

But because, for the first time in a long time, I feel like me again.

What’s remarkable is that if you had asked me this a year ago, my answer would have been very different.

A year ago, I was carrying grief.

I was questioning who I was.

I was trying to make sense of a chapter that had ended and a future I couldn’t yet see.

There were days where simply getting through the day felt like enough.

Today feels different.

Not because time healed me.

Time doesn’t heal anything by itself.

What heals us is what we do with the time.

Over the past year I chose to keep showing up.

I trained my body when it would have been easier to stay in bed.

I sat in silence when distraction was more comfortable.

I asked myself difficult questions instead of looking for easy answers.

I faced parts of myself I had spent years avoiding.

I stopped trying to become someone else and started remembering who I was underneath the fear, the achievements, the expectations, and the armour.

That’s why I feel stronger today.

My body feels younger because I’ve invested in it every single day.

My mind feels quieter because I’ve learned that not every thought deserves my attention.

My emotions feel lighter because I’ve stopped resisting them and started listening to them.

The greatest lesson of the past year is this:

Your greatest breakthroughs often arrive disguised as your greatest breakdowns.

The year that almost broke me became the year that rebuilt me.

Looking back, I wouldn’t choose the pain.

But I also wouldn’t trade the person it helped me become.

As I enter 43, I don’t feel like I’m getting older.

I feel like I’m finally arriving.

I know what matters.

I know what doesn’t.

I care less about impressing people and more about connecting with them.

I want slower mornings.

Deeper conversations.

More time on the ocean.

More moments that remind people there is another life waiting for them.

If there is one message I hope people take from this, it’s this:

Don’t judge your life by the chapter you’re in.

The chapter you’re struggling through today may become the chapter you thank the most tomorrow.

One year can change everything.

One decision can change your direction.

One powerful question can change your life.

Today, at 43, I don’t feel like I’m at the end of something.

I feel like I’m standing at the beginning of the most meaningful decade of my life.

And I can’t wait to see where the wind takes me.
