Seize the Wheel: The Ultimate Throttle on Growth
Seize the Wheel
The Ultimate Throttle on Growth
There comes a moment in coaching when the conversation stops being about what is happening to you…
…and starts becoming about what you are going to do about it.
That is the moment you seize the wheel.
For much of our lives, we can unconsciously sit in the passenger seat.
We blame circumstances.
We wait for clarity.
We wait for confidence.
We wait for the right opportunity.
We wait for someone else to change.
We tell ourselves:
“When this happens, then I’ll…”
But coaching invites you to ask a different question:
What if you took the wheel?
Not because you can control everything.
You can’t.
But because there is always something that belongs to you.
Your choices.
Your attention.
Your behaviour.
Your standards.
Your questions.
Your next move.
And that is where growth begins.
The ultimate throttle on growth
Growth accelerates when ownership increases.
The moment you stop waiting for life to become different and start asking:
“What can I do from here?”
Everything changes.
You move from reaction to creation.
From frustration to possibility.
From “Why is this happening?”
to
“What do I want to create now?”
This is one of the great powers of coaching.
A coach doesn’t need to give you the answers.
The most powerful coaching conversations often help you discover that you already have more answers than you thought you did.
Underneath the uncertainty, doubt, confusion and fear, there is often something you already know.
You know what you want.
You just haven’t created enough space to hear it.
Seize the wheel
Taking the wheel doesn’t mean having everything figured out.
It means being willing to make the next move without needing certainty about the entire journey.
It might be a conversation you’ve been avoiding.
A decision you’ve been postponing.
A dream you’ve been talking about for years.
A boundary you need to create.
A relationship you need to repair.
A business you need to build.
Or simply admitting:
“This isn’t the life I want anymore.”
That admission can be the beginning of an entirely different life.
Coaching creates movement
Sometimes you don’t need more information.
You need perspective.
Sometimes you don’t need another strategy.
You need a powerful question.
Sometimes you don’t need someone to tell you what to do.
You need someone willing to sit with you long enough for your own answer to emerge.
That’s where coaching becomes powerful.
Not because the coach takes the wheel.
But because the coach helps you realise:
The wheel was always yours.
And once you take it, you can finally start steering.
You can change direction.
You can accelerate.
You can slow down.
You can stop.
You can choose a different road.
You can ask:
“What would make this an extraordinary life?”
And then begin creating it.
Don’t wait for permission
Your life doesn’t require someone else’s permission to begin.
You don’t need to feel completely ready.
You don’t need to know exactly how.
You don’t need to have the whole map.
You need enough courage to take the next turn.
Because perhaps the biggest question isn’t:
“What is holding me back?”
Perhaps it’s:
“What would become possible if I seized the wheel?”
That’s the invitation of coaching.
Not to become someone else.
Not to fix everything.
But to become more deeply connected to what you already know, what you genuinely want, and who you are capable of becoming.
Seize the wheel.
Put your foot on the throttle.
And start driving your life rather than waiting for it to drive you.
